About the Paul Poag Theatre
ABOUT THE PAUL POAG THEATRE
Originally the "Rita" movie theater, the building was donated to the City of Del Rio in 1988 by John and Evelyn Prude and renamed "The Paul Poag Theatre" in memory of Paul Poag, the original owner. The Paul Poag has since been a staple of the Community Arts featuring performances from all around the world.
The stage has featured artists such as: Ray Price, Asleep at the Wheel, Radney Foster; Comedians such as: Alex Reymundo, Paul Rodriguez, Raymond Orta, Lynn Koplitz, and George Lopez; and surprises such as Illusionist Jason Bishop, Footworks Dance, Live Boxing events and Texas Wrestling Entertainment and much more. In additional, the Paul Poag is home to Del Rio's Award-winning local theatre troupe, the Upstagers.
